Air emissions management

With Fall schedules starting up again it is also the time to plan ahead for implementing better and more efficient systems to manage and report air emissions from operations. With the uncertainties in the regulatory arena in the USEPA, the Western Climate Initiative uncertain start up and both British Columbia and Quebec cap and trade programs in Canada, a proactive approach to greenhouse gas (and other species) management and reporting is paramount.

In this brief article, Process Ecology and Encana show how it is possible to improve your reporting and compliance status while at the same time reduce operating cost. Read more...

Oil & Gas Gathering Surveillance Systems using HYSYS dynamic models

Process Ecology has developed a methodology for the integration of a dynamic simulation model with a real-time online database from the field. The model incoporates details of wells and production facilities and runs continuously providing a number of valuable calculated values back to the database. This "virtual instrumentation" enables the monitoring of key unmeasured variables such as well flow rates. The system may also be run off-line as a look ahead tool and explore what if scenarios. Read more...

Column Specifications for a Typical Gas Plant simulation model

Many gas plants have one or more columns to provide product fractionation and purification. The 3 most common are the deethanizer, debutanizer and stabilizer as shown here (condensers and reboilers omitted for clarity).

Creating a gas plant simulation model requires assigning specifications to the columns, such that they converge and also accurately model the operation of the plant. Good modeling specifications result in a robust model that can be used for design and troubleshooting applications. Read more...
