Hydrate formation / inhibition prediction
Our Services - Hydrate formation/inhibition prediction
Do you have problems with hydrate formation?
Do you know how much inhibitor is required to avoid hydrate formation?
Are you over-circulating inhibitor, potentially resulting in excess
operating costs and emissions?

Process Ecology can help you ensure that you have an effective hydrate
inhibition strategy in place. We have extensive experience in supporting
gas transmission and facility operations and have also developed a
hydrate application which:
  • Evaluates hydrate formation conditions calculated by traditional
GPSA methods together with more rigorous hydrate predictions
(improved van der Waals-Platteeuw and Chen-Guo procedures)
  • Calculates required hydrate inhibitor flowrates using rigorous
and empirical methods (Hammerschmidt and Nielsen-Bucklin)
  • Estimates the regeneration heat duty required to recover
    hydrate inhibitor

We have also developed a
HYSYS extension for the calculation of
hydrate formation and inhibition.
